Frequently Asked Questions

I need help getting started! How can a professional organizer help me?

Most professional organizers offer two basic services: consultation and hands-on organizing sessions. With Themis, You'll receive a complimentary initial consultation, followed by two estimates: one for a full consultation (including product recommendations and a three hour jump-start sort and decluttering session) and a second for a full consultation and implementation (including product recommendations, shopping time, and a make-over of the space).

Will Themis install products and clean up after the session?

Small do-it-yourself installations are included in the second estimate. However, Themis is not a carpentry or housekeeping service, so any large-scale installations should be left up to an expert. Themis is happy to help you find related products and services, though, and I do make every effort to recycle the packaging from recommended products if recycling is not available in your area.

I've cleared my space of unused-but still usable!-items. Where can I donate them?

Glad you asked! Donating used items is a great way to put your clutter to good use. Clothing, small appliances, furniture, books, CDs, records, books, knicknacks, kitchen items, bikes, shoes, toys, sporting equipment, linens, and computers (make sure you delate any personal info from the hard-drive) not in need of repair can be donated to the non-profit organization Goodwill industries. Support WABE and PBA30, Atlanta's public radio and television stations, by donating your old car. Not all thrift stores are associated with a non-profit organization, so make sure the one you choose has legitimate non-profit tax status.

What if I want to sell my stuff?

Bookworms can set up their own online accounts at Amazon to sell everything from used books and CDs to new clothing and housewares for a small percentage of each sale. There are also agents in the area who will help you market and sell your stuff on Ebay and related sites; make sure that you check with the Better Business Bureau when trying to find a legitimate dealer.  Or do it yourself and save yourself the dealer fee.
